The Outback skin cladding system is a purpose-designed range of panels that wraps around the exterior of an Outback Plunge Pool. It provides a refined architectural finish while offering a solution for installations where the corrugated pool wall itself cannot form part of the required pool safety barrier.
Pool barrier requirements vary throughout Australia. In some locations and installations, the corrugated profile of the Outback Plunge Pool may be considered climbable and therefore may not be accepted as part of the required safety barrier.
Our cladding system creates a new external surface around the pool, helping the installation meet applicable barrier requirements while significantly changing the finished appearance of the pool.
Yes. The cladding system is designed to suit all seven Outback Plunge Pool sizes. Panel widths vary to accommodate the different pool diameters, while three panel heights are available to suit the different pool depths.
No. The cladding and proprietary mounting system have been specifically designed for Outback Plunge Pools and are not suitable for installation on other corrugated-style plunge pools.
Yes. Our cladding system can be retrofitted to an existing Outback Plunge Pool, making it a great option for owners looking to upgrade the appearance of their pool or address pool barrier compliance requirements.
The panels are securely attached using our proprietary mounting system, specifically designed for the Outback Plunge Pool. The system provides a secure and streamlined fixing method while maintaining a clean, considered finish around the pool.
No. The cladding is designed for installations where part of the pool wall remains exposed above the surrounding landscape or deck. Pipework and fittings—such as filtration connections, suction and return lines, light fittings and spa jets—should be concealed below or within the surrounding landscaping or deck rather than behind the cladding system.
The collection has been designed to suit a wide range of architectural styles and landscapes. Options include:
This allows you to take the pool in anything from a warm, natural direction through to a highly contemporary architectural finish.
Yes. You can choose any shell colour and cladding combination to create the look you want. For example, a Night Sky shell behind Corten mesh creates a dramatic contrast, while complementary combinations—such as a Surf Mist shell with the Off-White mesh—provide a more seamless, understated finish.
Accoya is a modified timber engineered for exceptional dimensional stability and durability. It offers a refined, consistent appearance and is an excellent option for contemporary outdoor environments.
Spotted Gum is an Australian hardwood with rich natural colour and distinctive grain variation. It’s ideal when you want the pool to have a warmer, more distinctly Australian character.
As with any timber used outdoors, appearance will evolve with exposure to the elements and the chosen coating and maintenance regime.
Yes. Timber is a natural material and will change in appearance as it is exposed to sunlight and weather. The amount of change will depend on the timber, finish, exposure and maintenance.
Some owners choose to maintain the original timber appearance, while others embrace the natural weathering process as part of the design.
Maintenance depends on the material selected.
Timber options will require an appropriate maintenance regime if you wish to retain a particular colour or finish. Corten is intentionally designed to weather, while painted/perforated metal finishes should generally require relatively little ongoing maintenance beyond normal cleaning and inspection.
The perforated option uses powder coated aluminium panels with a carefully designed 8mm perforation pattern, creating a lighter and more detailed appearance than a completely solid panel.
They’re particularly suited to contemporary homes and landscapes where the pool is intended to become an architectural feature rather than simply a functional water tank.
Our standard perforated panel finishes are Black, Off-White and Corten steel.
Black provides a strong contemporary finish, Off-White creates a softer and lighter appearance, while Corten introduces the warm, earthy character of weathered steel.
For an extra fee we can also colour match using many of the common COLORBOND® steel colours or even a completely custom colour.
Both options offer the distinctive character of weathering steel, but create quite different visual effects.
Perforated Corten introduces pattern and texture to the pool exterior, while solid Corten creates a stronger, more monolithic architectural form.
If you want the pool to read as a bold landscape element, solid Corten is particularly striking.
Corten is a weathering steel designed to develop a protective oxidised surface when exposed to the elements. This creates its characteristic warm orange, brown and rust tones.
The appearance continues to evolve over time, meaning every Corten-clad pool develops its own individual character.
Weathering steel can release oxide runoff, particularly during the initial weathering period. The surrounding paving, decking, walls and drainage should therefore be considered when specifying Corten.
We recommend discussing your particular installation and surrounding finishes with your designer or installer before selecting Corten.
No. Our proprietary mounting system has been designed to appropriately separate the cladding materials from the pool shell, helping to prevent direct interaction between dissimilar metals.
Speak to us or your reseller about your project. Depending on the configuration, there may be opportunities to use different materials or finishes to complement your home’s architecture and landscape design.
Material selection is particularly important in coastal and other highly corrosive environments. Let us know where the pool will be installed and we can advise on the most appropriate material and finish for the conditions.
Start by selecting the size of your Outback Plunge Pool. From there, your landscape design will determine how many linear metres of cladding are required around the pool. Once this is established, you can select your preferred cladding type and order the required number of panels to suit your design.
The cladding system is designed for DIY installation, however it should be installed in accordance with our installation requirements and in collaboration with your installer to ensure panel positioning, fixing and barrier-critical dimensions are correctly achieved.
Where the cladding forms part of the pool safety barrier, the completed installation should be assessed as part of the overall pool barrier approval process.
